Fascination Street
A collective of artists, architecture graduates and designers focused on urban place-making.
Role:
Co-founder /
Architectural and visual designer
With a collective background in architecture, we were passionate about the art of construction and its effect on the objects or activities held in public urban spaces. We didn’t act within the bounds of definite creative disciplines; rather, we saw creativity in itself as our discipline and a way of thinking that infiltrates everything we do.
Most of what we created functioned on a tight budget, so we became adept at utilizing a great deal from a very limited material pallete. This encouraged us to foster innovative design solutions.

A series of elegant columns provided substantial support for a light framework, delicately suspending the artwork in a harmonious arrangement.
Each column consisted of three parts: a base of concrete, infused with sand from far north South Australia. This base was joined to a lightweight timber column that supported a cube at its apex. Each cube was perforated on all sides, allowing the wooden beams suspending the artwork to be hung at any angle.
The Tunnels Exhibition
The Tunnels was a visual and performing arts showcase featuring South Australia’s young emerging artists.
This project was a challenge for us for two reasons. We couldn't hang art on the walls because they were easily damaged. Second, we couldn't build on-site before opening night in such a tight location in an expensive hotel.

Fascination Street undertook the massive challenge of realising their dear friend and fellow creative Sam Wright's vision. Moving Music was a roving music event with spectators moving from secret stage to secret stage, discovering the eccentricities of each curated venue and the surprise resident musician as they went.
